Discovering a New Life Through Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
At 55, I felt tired, both physically and mentally. My career as a department manager had stalled, my stamina was waning, and the stresses of life seemed harder to handle. Starting Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) at that age felt daunting, but it turned out to be one of the best decisions of my life.
Fast forward 10 years: I have more energy now than I did in my 40s. My memory and ability to manage stress rival how I felt in my 30s. BJJ didn’t just help me physically; it reshaped my mindset. The discipline, problem-solving, and resilience I’ve developed on the mats have translated directly into my personal and professional life. Today, I’m proud to serve as the senior chief executive of my company, a position I wouldn’t have reached without the benefits BJJ has brought me.
For anyone who feels like it’s too late to start something new, let my story be your encouragement. Whether you’re looking to improve your health, regain confidence, or find a new purpose, BJJ offers a path forward.
